What happens when you screw up?

In every successful society, in every successful world. Something holds it together in harmony ,peace and efficiency. More often than not, this "together" is either a living person or entrusted within a living person. Sometimes they're the leader at first glance, the well dressed person with an air of authority. Sometimes that's so subtle in this way that no one realizes their significance until they're gone. The type which preserves good spirit, the type that stays quiet and calm. The one that will always pat someone's back and smile.

All hope is entrusted in them and should they fall... who would save them? Who would save that one person or the rest of his society? What if the social body had grown entirely dependent on that one person's omnipresence that he is the sole pillar of the house?
