Mental Anesthetic
The art of First Aid holds two major divisions. Physiology and Psychology. Obviously a patient with no blood, pulse or breath is not going to survive. Likewise, a patient in shock is slightly closer to danger than anyone else. Therefore it is important that you reassure a patient. Reassurance gives them calmness, gives them hope and at the very least conserves their energy.

The logic of this is astoundingly strong, a person's mind regulates the body and if it's out of control, who will control the body? The same applies to life. Many people have perfectly healthy bodies, a roof over their heads and food in their stomachs. These same people often have problems in life. Their boss hates them. Their football team loses. Their life sucks. Whatever their reason, life's problems always gets the better of them. Their brain starts to worry, their body's age sky rockets and before you know it they've burnt out before they've retired.

But to every force in life, there must be a counterbalance, right? There must be yin to the yang. There must be heaven to the hell. Perhaps in our world the downfalls of the economy, nation and perhaps even humanity in general can be made up for by the smaller glories in life. The smile when you hear Jack Dawson play hero. The grin you give when you hear a joke. These smaller things in life build up, and perhaps they are the things to focus on in life which drown out the torrential cascade of failure in each persons life.

Good things don't even have to come in small pieces. Perhaps it's that extra special person or that group of people you just love being around. Perhaps it's that view of the mountains across an endless valley of trees when you stand atop a cliff and feel the wind around your face.

Find your salvation and never let go. Only then will the world go by.
